I've spent my career asking:
"How can I make this better?"
"How can I make this better?"

Hey, I'm Dan.
I've spent the last 15 years working in media and marketing.
I've had one of those "do it all" sort of careers. I started out in broadcast media, tackling anything I could get my hands on from TV production to ad sales to managing radio stations. Along the way, digital marketing became an increasingly important part of the work and I cut my teeth in agency environments helping businesses navigate everything from traditional advertising to Google Ads, SEO, and website strategy. I've spent time on all sides of the marketing equation, so I've seen the industry from just about every angle.
I learned a lot of lessons over the years, but the most important one is to never stop looking for ways to make things better. Good marketers should never settle for "same as we did last year" or "good enough" ad copy. Business owners aren't spending marketing dollars because it's fun, they're doing it to grow their business. And if you want to be successful in marketing, you better get serious about making your clients successful in the process.

That's ultimately what led me to start Highwood. I wanted to take the experience I've gained from years inside the marketing industry and put it to work on the client side of the table. I've seen first hand how frustrating it can be for business owners to invest significant amounts of money in marketing only to struggle to get a straight answer about what it's all accomplishing.
Most recently in my career, working exclusively with independent auto repair shops, I saw just how important that missing perspective could be. Marketing metrics are great, sure, but what do they mean?
Most shop owners don't lose sleep over click-through rates or what their best performing long tail keywords were last month. They want to know whether or not their investment is paying off. They care about whether or not the phones are ringing. They care if their marketing is going to help them be profitable this month. They care about whether or not their agency is on board to help them reach the goals they have for their business.
That's what I do.
I'm not here to replace your agency - there are already plenty of great ones out there. I'm here to handle the day to day marketing details, to dive head-first into your data and give you a clear map of how to get the most out of your investment.

I named this company after Highwood Pass, not far from my home in Alberta, Canada. It's an incredible place to escape into the rugged backcountry of the Canadian Rockies. It's a hikers paradise, and anybody who's spent time exploring those slopes will tell you that sometimes getting to the best views can be a grind, but totally worth every little step.
I can also tell you from experience that the best way to get to the top is to go with someone you trust who's as invested in seeing you at the summit, as you are.
That's success. That's Highwood.
That's what I do.

Every shop is different. We'd love to learn about yours, what you're building and where you could use some help.
